Granblue Fantasy Versus Rise introduces fresh gameplay elements, including Dash Attack and an updated auto-combo, renamed Triple Attack. Notably, the netcode now includes rollback and cross-play, enhancing the overall gaming experience. The game also adds engaging lobby-based mini-games such as “Rising Royale” and “Gold Brick Hoarder.”

Character-wise, all the familiar faces from the original game return, including four base roster newcomers and six DLC characters, including the versatile Lunalu. Narmaya is the only character whose costume can be changed through the DLC pass.

The DLC roadmap will launch in mid-January 2024, with Lucilius, originally a boss character, becoming playable. The Season 1 Pass will introduce more characters in 2024, along with additional stages, new features, and an enhanced online lobby experience.

Game director Tetsuya Fukuhara’s desire for a sequel was realized, and “Rising” announced in January 2023 that the release date would be postponed from November 30, 2023 to December 14, 2023 for fine-tuning. Cooperation with Uma Musume Pretty Derby characters and mysterious new game modes further enrich the post-launch content.
