Halina Reijn is the daughter of artists Frank Reijn (father) and Fleur Reijn (mother).

She was born on November 10, 1975 in Amsterdam, the capital of the Netherlands.

However, her youth was spent in Groningen, Netherlands, where she grew up with her two sisters, Esther Reijn and Leonora Reijn.
