Hans Strydom was born on May 14, 1943.
He was born in Durban, South Africa, and was a witness and victim of South Africa’s apartheid policy.

He was inspired by the policies of apartheid to study law to help defend black South Africans.

Hans Strydom completed his primary and secondary education in Durban, South Africa.
He went on to obtain a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) from Potchefstroom University.
Profession
Hans Strydom was employed by the South African Ministry of Justice at the Durban Magistrates’ Court in 1964. He worked there until 1972, when he left to become a prosecutor in Ladysmith. He served for four years before resigning in 1976 to pursue an acting career. He was one of the first South Africans to appear on television.
He made his film debut in the movie “Someone Like You” in 1976. He acted in South African films early on and has appeared in most of the top blockbusters and popular South African films and television shows such as “Bennylanders”, “Egoli: The Land of Gold”, “Res”, “White Gold”, “Ops Stacey”, “Autumnland and the Messenger”, “God Must Be Crazy 2” and “Generations”.
In 2002, he sued the South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC). The corporation refused to pay actors for reruns and re-runs of television shows. He won the case and the SABC paid the fine required by the court.
Since then, Hans Strydom has helped to obtain the correct fees from the South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) on behalf of actors and artists
