Harriet Manamela (born 13 October 1971) is a famous South African legendary actress and television personality.
She is best known for her role as Meikie Maputla in the SABC1 youth soap opera Skeem Saam.
She made her debut on the series premiere on October 13, 2011, and also appeared in the 2006 miniseries When We Were Black.

Early life and education
Harriet Manamela was born in Diepkloof, South Africa on October 13, 1971. She was raised by her parents, who later moved their family to Johannesburg in the early 1990s.
Since then, she has lived in parts of the country, but Johannesburg always calls her back.
Harriet Manamela is a graduate of St Anthony’s School in Boksburg. She dreamed of becoming an actress since she was a child, so she decided to pursue her dream. She joined the Squints Artists community theatre group in Alexandra and her first performance was in Virus and Let’s Talk About AIDS at the Market Theatre Lab Annual Arts Festival.
She completed a production of Broken Dreams at the Market Theatre Lab Theatre School, in addition to appearing in SABC3’s Drama Sport and toured with Gommorah, Koze Kuse Bash, Ways of Death, Bozoli at the Swedish Market Theatre and Grahamstown Arts Festival.
She also participated in the Market Theatre Young Writers Festival for two years.

In 2013, she joined the e.Tv soap opera Rhythm City, where she played Suffocate’s alcoholic mother Nomzamo, who had been drinking cautiously for many years and used alcohol as a coping mechanism.
Harriet Manamela won the 2012 South African Academy of Film and Television Arts Award for Best Supporting Actress for her role in the film Life Above All else and was nominated for the Vita Award for Best Supporting Actress for her role in the soap opera Isidingo.

That same year, she starred in the tourism segment in episode 9 of the SABC1 documentary series Ngempela.

Harriet Manamela is a happily married woman with two sons. She lives a happy married life with Buti Manamela. In 2017, Harriet Manamela’s husband was exposed to have an affair, but she stood firm and confronted her husband, and eventually won him back.

In 2012, she won the Best Supporting Actress Award for her outstanding performance in the movie “Life Above All”.
She was also nominated for the Vita Award for Best Supporting Actress for her outstanding performance in the TV series “Isidingo”.
