This mission can be completed once you successfully complete a specific main quest related to depth. To begin this adventure, you must first find Hateno Village in TotK’s game world. Once you reach Hateno Village, you’ll meet Robbie, an interesting character who plays a vital role in the game.

Robbie’s first order of business was to enhance the vital device, the Purah Pad, and install the Temple’s sensors. This upgrade will greatly help you explore the game world and uncover the secrets and mysteries that lie ahead.
How to unlock Robbie’s Hateno Village?
After starting the main story, when you talk to Robbie, the Purah Pad’s lead architect, he will tell you about the various new upgrades he can install for you. However, he requires that you assist Josha before he can fulfill your needs. Robbie will keep busy until he is done helping Josha.

To free up Robbie’s time, you must take on Josh’s mission “Deep Camera Work.” This particular mission requires you to have a paraglider. Your goal is to take a photo of the strange statue located in the depths.
Once you complete this quest, you will temporarily be unable to progress further in this quest. In order to proceed, you must complete one of the main regional phenomenon missions, which involves aiding the settlements of Rito, Goron, Zora, or Gerudo. After successfully completing at least one of these missions, return to Josha and express your willingness to take on the Mystery of the Abyss. This mission ends with you repairing Robbie’s hot air balloon.
After completing the mission, speak to Robbie to complete a new set of missions that take place in Hateno Village.
Hateno Village is located in the southeastern region of Hyrule, within Nekrada. It is located south of Lanayru Mountain Sky Observation Tower. From Lookout Landing, follow the southeast road until you reach a bridge over the Hylia River. Continue east along the road. Prioritize activating the Temple of Zamik to enable fast travel to Hateno Village, at least until Robbie establishes fast travel to his lab.

Looking east from the shrine, you can easily find the path to the Hateno Village Research Laboratory (also known as the Hateno Ancient Technology Laboratory).
Once you talk to Robbie inside the lab, he will equip your Purah Pad with the Shrine Sensor as part of the Hateno Village Research Lab side adventure.
The shrine sensor will activate immediately. To complete the mission, exit the lab and look down to the left. You’ll notice a bunch of rocks that can be broken. Keep breaking them and you’ll find the entrance to the Rezan Forest Caverns. Enter the cave, activate the Temple of Mayasic, and retrieve the Blessed Light. Alternatively, you can return to the lab after activating the shrine. Finally, talk to Robbie at Hateno’s Ancient Technology Laboratory to complete the quest.

Hateno Village Research Lab Walkthrough
The Hateno Village Research Laboratory marks the beginning of the fascinating adventures of Robby Side. It’s crucial to complete this mission before unlocking subsequent side adventures! The adventure revolves around Robbie, the quest giver who plays an important role in the game.

- First, you’ll find yourself at the Lookout in Hyrule Fields. From there, you have to go to Hateno Village, which is located in East Necluda, south of the Mount Lanayru Skyview Tower.
- Take the road south from Lookout Landing and continue southeast to reach your destination.
- After arriving at the Hateno Ancient Technology Laboratory where Robby is located, start a conversation with him. He will provide you with a sensor, a valuable tool that allows you to detect the presence of a nearby shrine.
- To test the sensor’s functionality, slowly walk toward the window near the entrance to the lab. As you approach the window, the sensor should detect the shrine’s presence.
- Then, head to the base of the mountain where the lab is located. There, you’ll come across a cave entrance. Entering the cave, you will see the Mayahisik Shrine on the right. Approach the shrine to update the progress of the side adventure.
- After completing these tasks, return to Robbie and inform him of the sensor’s effectiveness. Have the final conversation with him to successfully end the side adventure.
