‘He is a driving force’

In “The Greatest Love Story Never Told,” fans noticed Ben Affleck seemed hesitant to join Jennifer Lopez’s big project.

However, an unnamed source has now told People magazine that the 52-year-old actor was heavily involved in overseeing the making of the documentary as Lopez’s team reportedly “didn’t want to do it”.

Prime Video’s documentary chronicles the couple’s unexpected reunion and rekindling of love nearly two decades after calling off their first engagement.

Insiders claim that Affleck “is pretty much in control” of the feature, which is set to release in February.

“[Affleck] very supportive [of the project]and he is the driving force [Lopez] to do the film and the album, then he insisted on doing the documentary, while it seemed like he was hesitant and almost surprised about it,” the source added. “But that’s a false story.”

Another unnamed source said the idea for the documentary is believed to have come from Affleck’s company, Artists Equity.

The “Jenny from the Block” singer’s team was initially said to have been against the idea as she was focusing on the production of her ninth studio album, “This Is Me… Now” and its accompanying video project.

“Jennifer’s team didn’t want to do it because she was focused on the album and Amazon original video project,” a second insider said.

According to the first insider, the “Gone Girl” actor, despite previous speculation that the documentary would focus on his relationship with the 55-year-old singer, was actively involved in the editing process.

Affleck reportedly encouraged Lopez to make the film and album and was informed of every decision she made throughout the process.

The first source confirmed that Affleck found the film and album very interesting. Although he seemed surprised by the project in the documentary, he played a major role in its development, the insider added.

“He definitely took it from the director to be able to convey the story he wanted,” the source said.

Contrary to rumors that Affleck was frustrated by his public relationship with Lopez, the insider asserted, “He not only supports that lifestyle, he encourages it.”

In one part of the documentary, the “Batman v Superman” star expressed shock when she discovered Lopez’s songwriters were reviewing love letters he sent her after she shared them with her collaborators to gain creative inspiration for her upcoming album.

Throughout his 13-year relationship with first wife Jennifer Garner, Affleck kept love letters the “Hustlers” actress wrote to him. The collection of letters and emails became treasured mementos, and he eventually compiled them into a book as a heartfelt gesture after their reunion in 2021.

After months of rumors surrounding their marriage, TMZ confirmed that Lopez officially filed for divorce from Affleck on Tuesday, marking the end of their two-year marriage.
