Hlomla Dandala was born in 1974 in Mdansane, Eastern Cape, South Africa.
His father, Mvume Dandala, was a prominent figure in society and served as bishop of the Methodist Church in South Africa.
He also served as president of the All-Africa Conference of Churches.
