‘Houdini’ music video: Eminem’s Disses Against Kids, Megan Thee Stallion Spark calls for ‘retirement’

Eminem’s children, Hailie Jade Scott, 28, Alaina Scott, 31, and Stevie Laine Scott, 22, appeared on his latest track, “Houdini,” released on Friday, although the singer call them “kids”. While some fans were unhappy with the role, many were more outraged by his lyrics about Megan Thee Stallion, leading to calls for him to retire.

Despite playfully referring to his children, whom he shares with ex-wife Kim Scott, as “kids” in the song, all three appear in the accompanying music video.

In “Houdini,” the 51-year-old rap icon humorously pokes fun at Hailie, Alaina and Stevie in an eyebrow-raising verse.

He raps: “Damn, my kids, they’re brats / They can ruin everything, them and all of you / You too, Paul [his longtime manager Paul Rosenberg]there were two balls, the size of RuPaul’s balls.”

“Houdini” is the lead single from the 15-time Grammy winner’s upcoming album, The Death of Slim Shady (Coup de Grâce), due out this summer.

His criticism of his three children came just days after dancing with his eldest, Hailie, at her wedding.

Hailie and her siblings, Alaina Scott and Stevie Laine Scott, appeared via FaceTime call, reacting to their dad’s joke with overwhelming disgust.

The “Houdini” music video pays homage to Eminem’s 2002 hit “Without Me.”

In a nearly shot-for-shot remake, Eminem portrays multiple versions of his past, including his striking Slim Shady-era blond hair. The video stars Eminem and Dr. Dre taking on the roles of Batman and Robin, traveling around Gotham in a yellow Lamborghini ride.

Blonde Pete Davidson, who resembles a young Eminem, appears in a memorable scene mocking the SNL alum’s multiple car accidents in 2023, one of which resulted in charges of reckless driving after crashing his Mercedes into a home in Beverly Hills in March 2023.

Davidson was ordered to complete 50 hours of community service and 12 hours of traffic school to avoid criminal charges. He then checked himself into an inpatient treatment facility in July to address mental health issues.

In the music video, Davidson reassures Eminem about his driving skills as he takes over the wheel from Dr. Dre.

While the joke about his children being spoiled brats was taken quite lightly, fans couldn’t resist criticizing the singer for singing about Megan Thee Stallion.

His lyrics about the rapper were deemed “disgusting”.

Megan, 29, was shot in the leg by rapper Tory Lanez, 31, in July 2020 after a party in Los Angeles. The “Savage” rapper revealed she felt “tormented and terrorized” by Tory after the shooting, which was addressed during his 2023 trial, where he was sentenced to 10 years in prison.

In the song’s first verse, Eminem joked about the incident, rapping, “If I asked Megan Thee Stallion if she would collab with me / Would I really have a miracle?”

During this verse in the music video, the rapper makes a provocative gesture, miming a shrug in the air while delivering the lyric “one shot”.

According to The Sun, netizens think that Eminem mocking Stallion’s tragedy and trauma is unnecessary and very strange.

Outraged, some people called for his retirement.
