The Legend of Zelda TotK Lynel Guide
Lynel is one of the most challenging opponents you’ll face in Kingdom Tears. The most powerful monster in the game, second only to the mighty Demon King himself, Lynel is infamous for his awe-inspiring strength, cunning tactics, and unparalleled intelligence. These legendary creatures were already infamous in Breath of the Wild, but their powers have evolved in Kingdom Tears, making them an even more formidable threat. However, fear not, brave adventurer, for there are secrets to be uncovered and strategies to be mastered that can turn the tide of battle in your favor. Get ready for an exciting Lynel hunting adventure and gain the knowledge you need to emerge victorious.
Lynels are known for being solitary creatures, often living in vast open areas far from civilized settlements, much like other powerful midbosses such as the Hynox. Be careful when exploring the Abyss, as Lynels lurk there as well. To avoid potentially fatal encounters, be sure to bring plenty of bright flower seeds to prevent potential conflicts.
Now, here’s a fascinating twist: despite what the Hyrule Compendium might suggest, Lynels are unique among the game’s monsters. They won’t attack you on sight. Instead, they observe your presence, providing you with valuable opportunities to assess the situation, gather your intelligence, and make strategic decisions. But be careful not to venture too close to the Leer, as any approach or drawn weapon will act as a warning sign, causing it to brandish its own deadly weapons. If you press forward or attack, then all we can say is that you have been warned.
Armed with this valuable knowledge, you are now equipped to face the mighty Lynel. Get ready for a thrilling battle, and remember: even the most formidable enemies have their weaknesses. Discover their secrets, hone your skills, and emerge victorious in your quest to conquer Kingdom Tears. May your courage remain unwavering and may you triumph!
How to defeat Lynel in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom?
Traditional method:
- Sneak up to Lynel from behind, avoiding its sight.
- Once close enough, board the Lynel and attack quickly.
- Lynel will eventually throw you off and start charging at you.
- Dodge its attacks and wait for an opportunity to cast Flurry Dash.
- Try to headshot Lynel while he’s upright, but be careful with his shield.
- Keep dodging and performing flurry dashes until you defeat Lynel, although this can be challenging and you’ll likely lose a lot of health.
Easier way:
- Gather the necessary items: about a dozen arrows, bomb flowers, gibdor bones, spring devices, melee weapons (even torches), and a powerful bow (preferably a powerful Lynel bow).
- Save your game before heading to Lynel’s location.
- Once Lynel notices you, place the spring device and jump onto it.
- Grab your weapon and let Lynel attack.
- Perform a ground slam and fly into the air, gliding close enough to see Lynel’s health.
- Use your bow to slow down time and fire bomb arrows at Linnell.
- Bomb arrows deal damage and create updrafts that set grass on fire.
- Prepare another arrow fused with a Gibbon or similar powerful item.
- Monitor your stamina and use your paraglider before landing to avoid damage.
- Recuperate on the ground, then catch the updraft and take off again.
- Fire another round of Gibdor arrows into the Lenel River.
- Repeat this process until Lynel is defeated, using the updraft to stay airborne and avoid damage.

“The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom” will be released in 2023. It is an action-adventure game developed and published by Nintendo specifically for the Nintendo Switch platform. As the highly anticipated sequel to 2017’s The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Kingdom Tears builds on its predecessor while introducing new elements that will appeal to players.
The game retains Hyrule’s vast and immersive open world, but its significant expansion provides more opportunities for vertical exploration. As players embark on the journey, they take on the role of legendary hero Link, who must join forces with Princess Zelda to bravely stop the evil Ganondorf from bringing destruction to Hyrule.
Kingdom Tears was conceived from ideas beyond the scope of Breath of the Wild’s planned downloadable content (DLC). Nintendo’s Entertainment Planning and Development (EPD) division is taking the lead on developing the game, with big names such as Breath of the Wild director Hidemaru Fujibayashi and producer Eiji Aonuma also continuing to have supervisory roles on the project. The game’s trailer was initially shown at E3 2019 and fully revealed at E3 2021, sparking huge anticipation among fans.
Kingdom Tears was originally scheduled to be released in 2022, but experienced delays and was finally made available to players in May 2023. The game earned critical acclaim for its significant improvements, expanded open world, and emphasis on promoting exploration and experimentation. Its release was a huge success, selling over 10 million copies in its first three days of availability, cementing its status as the most anticipated and critically acclaimed entry in the beloved Legend of Zelda series.

However, get ready to face a new threat lurking in the Abyss – a mysterious substance known as the Dark Matter. When encountering enemies shrouded in darkness, your maximum heart count will be temporarily reduced. It’s a tough challenge that adds an extra layer of strategy to your encounters. To fully restore your health, you’ll need to return to the surface or seek out the radiant Light Roots found in the Abyss.
Tears of the Kingdom plot introduction
In an epic story that follows the events of Breath of the Wild, Link defeats Calamity Ganon, bringing hope to the people of Hyrule and allowing them to begin rebuilding their kingdom. However, a few years later, a mysterious substance began to spread from the underground of Hyrule Castle, bringing disease and pain to the castle’s residents. Curiosity drives Link and Zelda to investigate the caves beneath the castle, which are the source of this disturbing substance.
Deep in the depths, they stumble upon the ancient ruins of Zonai, where the story of a great battle is revealed and witness the awakening of mummy Ganondorf. Events take a shocking turn as Ganondorf’s dark power corrupts Link’s right arm and shatters the Master Sword, while Hyrule Castle mysteriously rises into the sky. After being separated from Zelda, Link found himself saved by an invisible arm that had been restraining Ganondorf. When Link wakes up, he finds himself in the newly emerged Sky Islands, equipped with the broken remains of the Master Sword.
Under the spiritual guidance of Rauru of the Zonai tribe, Link embarks on a journey across the Sky Islands. Rauru gives Link a new arm to replace the damaged one. Together they sailed the island, and the broken Master Sword eventually disappeared. The link also received a vision of Zelda, who appeared to possess the sword.
After returning to Hyrule, Link discovers that the “Upheaval” event has caused chaos and destruction. Determined to restore order, Link begins investigating reports of riots and Zelda’s presence in the land. Along the way, Link encounters and defeats four monsters that occupy the ancient Zonai Temple. With the aid of allies such as Tulin, Sidon, Riju, and Yunobo, representatives from various tribes, Link collects secret gems—the powerful Zonai artifacts—that enhance his abilities. The ancient sage appears in spiritual form, appointing Link’s companions as new sages and passing down the gems.
Armed with the restored Master Sword, Link engages in a final confrontation deep within the castle, facing Ganondorf’s forces alongside the Sage’s Successor and Mineru. In a climactic battle, Ganondorf consumes his secret gem and transforms into a demonic dragon. However, with the help of Zelda’s dragon form, Link defeated Ganondorf. With the joint efforts of Rauru and Sonia’s souls, Zelda returned to her true physical form, and Link’s right arm was also restored. Two heroes fell from the sky and landed on the surface of Hyrule.
