Reversal in “Persona 3: Reloaded”
In Persona 3 Reload, the reverse mechanic is a unique feature not found in other Persona games. This happens when a player makes a really bad choice in a social link or confidant scenario. In other games, these choices might mean spending extra time with friends, but in Persona 3: Reloaded, they can completely destroy your relationship with your character.

This means that instead of becoming closer, your connection to that character is completely broken. This feature will surprise even experienced players, as they might not have thought of it if they were used to other Persona games. Essentially, reversals are the result of making extremely poor decisions during social interactions in the game, causing your relationship with the character to deteriorate.

The reason for the reversal in Persona 3 Reload
In Persona 3: Reloaded, reversals occur when players make offensive choices in social interactions, especially when they become romantically involved with a character. The mechanic is inspired by the “relationship bomb” mechanic in Japanese dating games, where making the wrong choice can severely damage the player’s relationship with their character.

To trigger a reversal, players must say or do something deeply offensive to the character they interact with. Games often provide warnings before making such choices, alerting players to the potential consequences.
For example, in certain scenarios such as a level 5 interaction with Chihiro in Justice Arcana, choosing an option such as trying to kiss her could result in a reversal if she reacts negatively.
This causes Chihiro’s Akanaka to flip and turn red, indicating a significant deterioration in the player’s relationship with her.
How to fix reverse issues in Persona 3 Reloaded?
Solve the reverse problem
In Persona 3: Reloaded, when characters are reversed, they still appear in their original positions, but their available cards turn red and turn upside down. Fortunately, players have ways to rectify the situation.

Talk to reverse character
Players can initiate a conversation with the reversed character and apologize or ask for forgiveness. This interaction needs to happen three times in three days to turn over their free card.
After that, players must wait until the fourth day to resume time with them. It’s worth noting that talking to the reversed character doesn’t consume any game time.
Take advantage of the rewind feature
Alternatively, players can take advantage of the convenient rewind function in the Persona 3 Reload system menu. This feature allows players to rewind time to a previous idle period, effectively undoing the events that led to the reversal.
By replaying social link scenarios and avoiding decisions that lead to reversals, players can completely prevent them from happening. While some players may not feel comfortable taking this easier route, it’s a viable option for those who wish to do so.
