You can do this:
Return via the Mithril Mine:
If you want to return to the grassland area, you can pass through the Mithril Mine again. It requires a bit of walking, but it’s doable.
Complete the “Sticking to the Rules” side quest:
Complete the “Trapped” side quest to make things easier. Once you do this, Rancher Gabe will reopen his Chocobo Wagon service.
This service allows you to travel instantly between the Prairie and Junon areas.
Additional shipping options in later chapters:
As you progress through the game, you’ll unlock different ways to travel. For example, the Shinra-8 cruise ship can take you between the Corel and Junon areas.
No fast travel:
But remember, there is no fast travel. You’ll either need a car or be prepared to walk back to where you’ve been before.
The point of no return in Chapter 13:
Be careful as there is a point of no return at the beginning of Chapter 13. This is a critical part of the game and you will not be able to go back to the previous area.
When you are about to reach this point, you will see a clear warning on the screen.
Skip side content:
Before reaching Chapter 13, you can choose to skip some side quests and come back to them later. Use the chapter select menu after completing the main story to wrap up any unfinished business.
In Final Fantasy 7, respawn provides flexibility in exploring areas, allowing you to return to previous areas in a variety of ways. Please be aware of the point of no return in Chapter 13, and plan your side quests accordingly.
