How to Unlock Stellar Tera Type in Indigo Disk in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet? Stellar Tera Type Match-Ups Explained

What is a Stellar Terratype?

Stellar Tera Type is a new special element in the Indigo Disk DLC for Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. It’s not like the other 18 types we’re used to, but it’s unique in that it doesn’t have its own specific strengths and weaknesses. Conversely, when a Pokémon is given a Stellar Terra type, all of its moves, regardless of its original type, receive a power boost.

This means that Pokémon with stellar attributes can become more powerful and have an impact on how battles go. The introduction of type 19 adds a new layer of strategy to the game, changing the way certain matchups work. This article will provide comprehensive information about the stellar Tera type in Pokémon Crimson and Violet’s Indigo Disk DLC, covering everything you need to know about this new element type.

How to unlock the star Terra type in the Indigo Disk in Pokemon Crimson and Violet?

To get the Stellar Type in Pokémon Crimson and Violet’s Indigo Disk, you need to wait until the game’s main story is almost complete. At that point, you’ll reach Zone Zero and explore a cave. As you go deeper into the cave, you’ll encounter special Pokémon of the Stellar type.

You must fight and defeat them to obtain the Stellar Shards. Once you have these fragments, you can use them to give your Pokémon a new 19th type, the Stellar Tera type.

Stellar Tera Type Matching Explained

Stellar Tera Type provides a special boost of 1.3 times the normal power of moves, but only occurs once per move. This bonus only helps attack actions, not defense.

Some Pokemon work very well with Stellar Tera Type, here are some examples:

  • Porygon-Z: This Pokémon benefits greatly as its Adaptive Ability has increased its Same Type Attack Bonus (STAB) moves by 2x. Moves like Ice Beam and Thunderbolt become more powerful, and Hyper Beam becomes a super powerful attack after being transformed into Terrastar. Using the Life Orb as a held item increases its strength.
  • Rillaboom: Offensive Rillaboom usually has the Grass Tera type. The Stellar Terra type enhances all attacks, including moves like Grass Glide and High Power, making it even more powerful. However, only one boost occurs per move.
  • Archaludon: This is a new Pokémon introduced in the Indigo Disk DLC. It has a move called “Electric Shock”. Although it is a Steel/Dragon-type Pokémon, its signature move is the Electric type. You can use Electric Tera to enhance its Electric moves, but using Stellar Tera makes it interesting. Moves such as Thunderbolt, Flash Cannon, Dragon Meteor, and Dark Pulse become very powerful after a one-time upgrade, making Acharudun a powerful attacker.
