Born January 12, 1954, in Jackson Heights, New York City, Howard Allen Stern’s parents were Ben Stern, a homemaker who later became a breathing therapist, and Ray Stern, an office worker.

Early life
From age 9 until his sophomore year of college, where he worked as a cook, camper, and counselor. On vocals and keyboards, he formed a band called Electric Comicbook with two classmates.
Stern attended Washington-Rose Elementary School, Roosevelt Junior-Senior High School, and Hebrew School in that order. Stern’s father set up a microphone, tape recorder, and phonograph in his basement for Stern.
It was to record his own fake radio show when he was five years old. Stern transferred to South Side High School after his family moved to nearby Rockville Centre in 1969.
Stern turned down an offer to attend Elmira College in 1972 to pursue a degree in Communications at Boston University. Because of his high school GPA, he spent the first two years of his college career at the College of Fundamental Studies.
Career
While attending Boston University, Stern began his radio career. From 1976 to 1982, he worked mornings at WRNW in Briarcliff Manor, NY, WWWW in Detroit, MI, WCCC in Hartford, CT, and WWDC in Washington, DC, building his on-air presence.
He worked afternoons at WNBC from 1982 to 1985. He began a 20-year run at New York City’s WXRK in 1985, and his morning show went into syndication in 1986.
Stern’s work has been published in Hamptons Magazine and WHIRL, among others. He was a judge on America’s Got Talent from 2012 to 2015. He is the only person to have a morning show that is the most popular in both New York City and Los Angeles.
Stern has consistently won industry awards, most notably being named Billboard’s Country Radio Personality of the Year for eight consecutive years. After signing a five-year, $500 million deal with Sirius in 2004, Stern is one of the highest-paid people in radio.
When the FCC fined the station owner $2.5 million for vulgar content, he became the most fined radio personality in history. After the Super Bowl XXXVIII halftime show scandal, Stern criticized the Bush administration for increasing FCC fines in 2004.

Stern’s first wife, Alison Berns, was introduced to him by a mutual friend while they were both students at Boston University. They were married in 1978 at Temple Ohabei Shalom in Brookline, Massachusetts.
Emily Beth, Debra Jennifer and Ashley Jade are the couple’s three daughters. They decided to separate in 1999. In 2001, the couple divorced peacefully and resolved their differences.
He later dated Angie Everhart and Robin Givens. In 2007, he announced his engagement to Beth Ostrosky, a model and television host, and the two married in 2008.
During the Miss America pageant, Stern revealed that he suffered from obsessive-compulsive disorder. Stern admitted that he had rhinoplasty and liposuction under his chin in the 1990s as part of the Employee Reveal Game on his radio show in 2006.
Stern said in 2012 that he was a vegan. Howard Stern announced two years ago that he had a cancer scare after discovering a tumor in one of his kidneys.
It was later discovered to be a harmless cyst. Since 2014, Howard Stern and his partner Barbara Ostrosky have rescued about 200 animals at their Long Island home.
