Early life

On 14 May 1966, Hyacinth Alia was born in the Benue State LGA of Mbangur, Mbadede and Vandeikya.

He completed his primary education at St. Francis Primary School in Agidi, Mbatiav and Gboko.

His spiritual journey began when he enrolled at St. James Minor Seminary of Makurdi in 1983. He was then allowed to continue his studies at St. Augustine Major Seminary in Jos.

In 1987, he earned an Associate of Arts in Religious Studies and in 1990, he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Theology.

To further his education, he enrolled at Fordham University in the Bronx borough of New York City, where he graduated with a Master of Arts in Religious Education (Psychology and Counseling) in 1999.
