early life
Ice Cube was born on June 15, 1969, to Hosea Jackson and Doris Benjamin. The Jacksons named their son O’Shea Jackson Jr. He is an African American.
Ice Cube’s mother was a hospital clerk and administrator, while his father was a mechanic and a gardener at UCLA.
He had an older brother, Clyde Ray Jackson. His half-sister, Beverly Jean Brown, was murdered when he was 12. The Jacksons lived on Van Wyck Street in the Westmont neighborhood of South Los Angeles.
The nickname “Ice Cube” came from when his brother threatened to throw him into the freezer and take him out when he turned into an ice cube.

He co-wrote and starred in the comedy movie “Friday” released in 1995. His directorial debut was the movie “The Players Club”. The movie was released in 1998.
