Iliza Vie Shlesinger was born on February 22, 1983 in Manhattan, New York, United States.
She comes from a Jewish family, but she has not shared any details about that family.
Although born in New York, she grew up in Dallas, Texas, where she attended school for her early years.

After moving to Los Angeles, Iliza Shlesinger tried her hand at stand-up comedy and was a member of the popular stand-up comedy group Whiteboy Comedy.
Iliza Shlesinger has been on many comedy shows and finally, in 2007, she won MySpace’s “So You Think You’re Funny” competition and became G4’s MySpace Girl of the Week. She has also appeared on several television shows such as John Oliver’s “New York Standup Show”, Comic Unreleased and Forbes Celebrity 100.
Additionally, in 2008, she won the sixth season of NBC’s Last Comic Standing, becoming the show’s first and youngest winner.
Iliza Shlesinger also hosted The Weekly News on TheStream.tv from 2007-2012 and a dating competition series called Excused (2011-2013). She also co-starred in the film Paradise (2013) and started her own podcast called Truth and Iliza in August 2014.
Iliza Shlesinger’s first comedy album was recorded on December 1, 2012 and released on Netflix on September 1, 2013.
