Early life
Irvin Khoza, 73 years old, grew up in Alexandra, a small, segregated town north of Johannesburg, South Africa.
He comes from a very enthusiastic and optimistic family background. As a child, Irvin was an avid fan of the South African national football team.

The football administrator was also academically astute, attending a school in Soweto, before impressively completing his university education at Fort Hare University.
Career
Irvin Khoza’s success in football management began more than 30 years ago.
He was appointed by the Orlando Pirates football club and served as secretary for two years (1980-1982). Khoza’s financial advantage and profound ideology of sports management gave him the opportunity to own the club nearly 10 years later (1991).
During his tenure as club owner, Orlando Pirates grew and became a stronger club in South African football. They won the 1995 African Club Championship.
He is currently the president of the Premier Soccer League, the top division of South African football. He is also vice-president of the South African Football Association. During his tenure, Khoza secured a partnership agreement with Absa Group Limited, which has been a successful alliance with the league to date.
In 2004, he was instrumental in securing South Africa’s bid to host the quadrennial tournament. He also played a key role in securing another bid for the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa. Khoza served as chairman of the organising committee from 2004 to 2010.

Irvin Khoza lost his wife, Yvonne Mantwa Kgotleng-Khoza, on 17 January 2020. They were blessed with two sons and a daughter.
The Orlando Pirates owner decided to get married again. Sadly, his second wife, Matina Khoza, passed away on July 23, 2020.
She died leaving behind four children.
Prize
Former President of South Africa, Jacob Zuma, awarded Irvin Khoza the Order of Ikhamanga in 2011.
He was also named Most Outstanding Performer in the CAF Awards.
