Are Noah and Caesar related?
No, Owen Teague’s chimpanzee Noah in War for the Planet of the Apes isn’t directly related to Caesar, the protagonist of the previous films. While initial reports suggested a family connection, Teague clarified that while Caesar’s legacy plays a role in the film’s narrative, Noah represents a new generation within the ape community.
The film is set 300 years after “War for the Planet of the Apes” and explores a world where humans have degenerated into animals without the ability to speak. Noah, a member of the Eagle Clan, embarks on a journey of growth, entering a strange world and discovering the challenges his people face.
The story unfolds as Noah meets a feral human character played by Freya Allen, who possesses unexpected knowledge. Meanwhile, Proximus Caesar, played by Kevin Durand, emerges as an important adversary, aiming to conquer and rediscover advanced technologies such as electricity.
The lack of a direct familial connection between Noah and Caesar contributed to the evolution of Planet of the Apes’ storyline as the film delves into themes such as power dynamics, lore and religion among the apes.
