Is the Oasis 2025 reunion still tenuous despite its announcement?

Oasis’ Liam and Noel Gallagher have reportedly not resolved their differences and have fully reconciled despite the band announcing they will return for a reunion tour in 2025.

After repeatedly denying any plans for an Oasis reunion, Liam and Noel confirmed the tour news on X, formerly Twitter, on Tuesday, writing: “That’s it, this is happening.”

The Sun reports that the rift between the brothers has not been resolved, but they have agreed to reunite for the tour because of the huge sum they are expected to earn of $66 million.

Unnamed industry sources shared similar information with the Daily Mail, claiming that Noel is still wary of touring with Liam again and that the huge prize money was a major driving force behind their decision to reunite as a band.

“Noel would only consider sharing the stage with Liam again if the money was huge and that’s what convinced him,” an insider told the outlet. “They haven’t buried the hatchet yet, and Noel will always have major doubts about being in a band with Liam because he’s so unpredictable – both on stage and off.”

“Certain conditions will have to be put in place to protect Noel’s presence in this return as he really can’t stand Liam’s style as he’s a liability,” the source added. “But the amount of money being offered will clearly help overcome any potential challenges. It’s a life-changing amount of cash — even for someone who’s already very wealthy.”

Despite claims of unresolved issues, Oasis confirmed this week that the band will play 14 shows across the UK and Ireland next summer.

“There was no big revelation moment that prompted the reunion — just a gradual realization that the time was right,” Oasis said of the reunion in a statement obtained by CNN.

Although tickets don’t go on sale until this weekend, music industry experts have predicted the reunion tour could gross half a billion dollars.

Professor Jonathan Shalit, chairman of talent agency InterTalent, told The Sun: “With tickets, sponsorship, merchandise and filming, I would estimate Noel and Liam’s earnings to be in excess of £50 million ($66 million) each. This is a tour that could easily gross in excess of £400 million ($529 million).”

Oasis broke up in 2009 after a heated confrontation between the brothers at the Rock En Seine Festival in France, when Liam swung Noel’s guitar “like an axe” and broke it.

Recalling the incident, Noel said at a 2011 press conference that Liam “almost took [his] face to face” guitar, according to The Independent.

Minutes earlier, Liam had also impulsively thrown a plum at his brother, and saw it splatter against the dressing room wall just minutes before they appeared on stage.

Thinking back on the incident, Noel revealed, “Part of me wished it had ended like that — ‘the heavens fought.'”

After the guitar malfunction, Noel left the band. The show was abruptly cancelled, as was Oasis’ tour at the time.
