Ariana Grande’s highly publicized relationship with Ethan Slater has become a topic of attention. Now, Slater has spoken out on the issue for the first time.
The couple met while filming their upcoming movie sinister movie and Slater had nothing but praise for Grande and their time together.
“Obviously, it’s been a really hugely important year and I think there’s something really difficult about having things in your private life subject to public comment and scrutiny,” he said. GQ.
“There are a lot of big changes in private life that have actually taken place, so it’s hard to see people who know nothing about what’s going on commenting on it and speculating, and then misinterpreting people. you love. just to deal with that part, it’s really difficult,” Slater added.
Despite the backlash the couple has faced since getting together, Slater went on to say that their time together has been an “amazing year.”
“But of course, it’s been a great year and a really beautiful year, and I’m really excited. I’m really, really proud of Ari and the work she’s done in this area. She’s been poured my heart into it. I’m really proud that I was there for that part and I’m really excited to be at this next step where the world gets to see this great thing. What a great job she did,” Slater shared.
He talked about Grande’s song “Imperfect for You” from her Eternal sunshine album that many believe is about Slater.
“She’s an amazing performer and I think everyone knows how good she is. [as] a recording artist and all that — but I was really impressed by the songwriting,” he told me. “I liked that song,” Slater said.
Both Grande and Slater met amid controversy. In July 2023, Slater filed for divorce from his longtime love, Lilly Jay. A few days later, TMZ reported that he and Grande were now a couple, after she also broke up with her ex-husband, Dalton Gomez. Fans have been scrutinizing the timeline and when their relationship ended, causing swift and intense backlash.
However, both Grande and Slater have mostly kept quiet about their relationship since then. Grande seemingly addressed the backlash in her song “Yes, and?” as she sings, “Why do you care so much whose horse I ride?”
