Early life
Wagner was born on October 3, 1959, in Washington, Missouri. He attended St. Gertrude Parish School and St. Francis Borgia Regional High School, where he played basketball and football.
He went to school in University of Missouri but dropped out of school for a year to enroll at the University of Arizona. He tried his hand at golf and also tried his hand at theater. He received a full scholarship from the university’s drama department.
