Jalen is a Pittsburgh native who attended the Combine Academy and has committed to play basketball for Jeff Capel and the University of Pittsburgh. This is considered a major recruiting win for the Panthers. The Indiana Hoosiers were interested in recruiting Hood-Schifino after he started it during his sophomore year of high school.
Hood-Schifino, Indiana basketball’s ninth-highest-rated recruit since 1998 and the highest-rated recruit since Romeo Langford in 2018, committed to the Hoosiers in August 2021. Before even playing a game for the Indiana Hoosiers, Hood-Schifino was projected to be selected in the first round of the NBA draft and was named the best preseason rookie by Big Ten reporters.
