His mother, Catherine Muir, was from the quaint town of Greenock in Scotland, and immigrated to the United States at the age of 11. His father, Angelo Leno, was a native New Yorker born in 1910, to parents from the quaint village of Flumeri, Italy. Sadly, Angelo passed away in 1994, leaving Jay to be raised in the quaint town of Andover, Massachusetts.
After graduating from high school, Jay Leno attended Emerson College, majoring in speech therapy. It was there that he nurtured his passion for comedy, opening a comedy club in 1973.
