Jayson Christopher Tatum, born on March 3, 1998, is an American professional basketball player currently playing for the Boston Celtics of the NBA.
He was named a McDonald’s All-American during his high school years in Missouri and later played college basketball for the Duke Blue Devils.
In the 2017 NBA Draft, Tatum was selected by the Boston Celtics with the third pick and was selected to the NBA All-Rookie First Team in 2018.

Early life and education
Jason Christopher Tatum, 26, was born on March 3, 1998 in St. Louis, Missouri to Justin Tatum and Brandi Cole. Tatum attended Chaminade College Preparatory School in Creve Coeur, Missouri.
As a freshman, he averaged 13.3 points and 6.4 rebounds per game, was named the 2013 Metropolitan Catholic Conference (MCC) Player of the Year, and led the Red Devils to both the MCC and Missouri Division 2 championships.
As a sophomore, he averaged 26.0 points and 11.0 rebounds per game. As a junior, Tatum averaged 25.9 points, 11.7 rebounds and 3.4 assists per game and was selected to the Naismith Award All-American Second Team. He then joined the St. Louis Hawks Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) team and performed well in the Nike Elite Youth Basketball League (EYBL) circuit.
Tatum committed to Duke before his junior year and showed off his skills with impressive performances, including 40 points and 17 rebounds against Bentonville High School, 46 points against Huntington Prep and 40 points in his final game against DeMatha Catholic High School.

During the 2017 NBA Draft, Boston Celtics General Manager Danny Ainge traded the team’s first-round pick to the Philadelphia 76ers in hopes of acquiring another valuable pick while still being able to select the player they wanted in Tatum. They ultimately selected him with the third overall pick they received from Philadelphia.
Tatum showed off his prowess in the 2017 NBA Summer League, averaging 18.7 points, 9.7 rebounds, 2.3 steals and 2.0 assists per game in Utah and produced similar numbers in Las Vegas.
He performed well in his NBA debut, recording a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds. Tatum continued to make an impact throughout the season and was named the Eastern Conference Rookie of the Month for December 2017.
