Jennifer Lopez, Ben Affleck face setback in sale of $68M mansion after buyer pulls out of escrow

Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez have hit a snag in their hasty attempt to sell their $68 million shared home amid their ongoing divorce.

The actor, 52, and the singer, 55, have accepted a $64 million offer from a New Jersey couple for their shared property. However, the deal recently hit a snag after the potential buyers pulled out of escrow, citing a death in the family, TMZ reported Tuesday.

Sources say buyers are still keen on buying Ben and Jen’s former home, which the former couple listed on Zillow for $68 million after factoring in renovation costs since buying the property for $60.8 million in May 2023.

According to the Daily Mail, when a property falls out of escrow, this usually indicates a break in the sale or transaction process, meaning the home will no longer be under contract and can be relisted.

Delaying the sale of a home also has additional financial implications for the ex-spouses, including a 5.25 percent estate tax and a significant fee for real estate brokers.

The sale of the 38,000-square-foot mansion, known as Crestview Manor, is expected to mark a significant division of the former couple’s combined $550 million fortune, who are currently in the midst of a “difficult” divorce with celebrity divorce attorney Laura Wasser. The divorce is considered difficult because the two Hollywood stars did not sign a prenuptial agreement before tying the knot in July 2022.

Crestview Manor exudes luxury with 12 bedrooms and 24 bathrooms in the main house. The estate also has a 5,000-square-foot guest penthouse, a separate two-bedroom guardhouse, and a caretaker’s house. It also has a host of amenities, including a 12-car garage, a sports hall, baseball and basketball courts, a boxing ring, and a home gym. There is also parking for up to 80 vehicles on the property.

Affleck, who has a net worth of $150 million, and Lopez, who has an estimated net worth of $400 million, reportedly bought the home with the intention of making it the primary residence for their blended family. The “Argo” actor shares three children with ex-wife Jennifer Garner—Violet, 18, Fin, 15, and Samuel, 12—while J.Lo shares 16-year-old twins, Max and Emme, with ex-husband Marc Anthony.

While the property seemed to meet their needs, an insider told People earlier this month that the ultra-modern aesthetic didn’t fit Lopez’s style, and Affleck himself was ultimately unhappy with the home’s location. He and his children live in Brentwood, and the commute became a hassle for the actor.

According to Page Six, Affleck has purchased a $20.5 million bachelor pad, while J.Lo is reportedly in talks to buy a $55 million mansion in LA during their divorce.
