Over the summer, Lopez broke up with her ex, Ben Affleck, after two years of marriage and rekindled their romance for a second time. But now she affirms that she is taking this time to stay single and look inward at herself after four failed marriages.

“The work is about finding yourself. It’s looking back at the underlying emotions and belief systems we have about ourselves that cause us to make certain choices and create certain patterns in our lives.” And so when you get to the point where you have to think that you’ve learned the lessons, and then it shows up in your face again, you realize, ‘Okay, I haven’t learned, so I What needs to be considered right now?’ I would say, never stop looking inward, because it’s easy to blame other people,” she said in an interview with Nikki Glaser for interview magazine.

“But you have to be healthy. You have to improve, if you want something more complete. You have to do well on your own. I thought I learned that, but I didn’t. And then, the summer hey, I had to be like, ‘I need to go out and prove to myself that I can do it,'” she continued.
Lopez continued to affirm that she intends to be single by sharing that she doesn’t need someone to feel complete and that she can find peace on her own.
“You know what? For people who are romantic and love relationships and want to grow old with someone, we think, ‘I have to have that to be whole and happy.’ And you don’t,” she told the outlet before joking that it only took her “30 years” to figure this out.

She admitted that navigating her post-divorce life was difficult.
“I felt lonely, strange, scary. Feeling sad and hopeless,” she said. “But when you sit in those feelings and think, ‘These things won’t kill me,’ it actually feels like I can find joy and happiness on my own. Being in a casual relationship I can’t find happiness in others. I have to have happiness within myself. I used to say that I’m a happy person, but I’m still looking for something for others another fills in, and it’s like, ‘No, I’m really good.'”
Lopez filed for divorce from Affleck in August after two years of their marriage. The couple previously reconciled in 2021 after spending most of their early years together.
