“If you’re not in finance or real estate, you don’t sign a contract the year before and show up in August when the summer is over,” Audrey explains. “If someone is hiring in journalism, fashion, or public relations, you interview and then two weeks later you start. They never hire someone a year in advance. All my friends have jobs in finance, real estate, and consulting, and they all know exactly what they’re doing by the end of the summer.”
“And summer came and I was the only friend who was in a more creative industry, so I started applying and it was a complete blind shot as to whether they were going to hire me or not,” she added. “And there are really only a few hiring seasons throughout the year, which you don’t even realize when you’re a student.”
Audrey Peters completed her undergraduate education at George Washington University. She graduated in 2019.
