By 1979, Jerry had raised enough money to buy The Lakers, The Kings, and The Forum sports facilities for $67.5 million. The actual value was $213 million. It was the largest sports franchise acquisition in history at the time.

Buss bought the Sparks in 2002 when the WNBA restructured to allow for unique ownership of each team. He gave the team away in 2006. Buss also bought the Los Angeles Lazers of the Major Indoor Soccer League. The Lazers also performed at The Forum.
