Deanne Hoffer, grew up with sibling Jacob Hoffer. Jinkx attended Da Vinci Middle School for the Arts and Grant High School. Although she was raised Catholic, Jinkx eventually came out as lesbian and identified as gender fluid.

Jinkx Monsoon and Michael Abbott announced their separation in February 2024. The couple first met at the Kiki Club in Manchester, England in March 2019, where Michael worked as a bartender.

Although Jinkx had planned to date a drag queen, the plan fell through, leading to their chance meeting. The two got married on January 6, 2021, in their living room in Portland, Oregon, United States.

However, due to COVID-19 restrictions, their wedding was small with only three guests in attendance. Despite the small size of the wedding, their friends and family were able to witness the wedding through a virtual host, comedian Devan Green from California, USA.
