Video footage of the life-saving interaction was released Wednesday during routine surveillance of the Seigenthaler Pedestrian Bridge over the Cumberland River.
A woman in blue stands on the other side of the railing as seemingly oblivious pedestrians pass by. The video then shows Bon Jovi walking towards her, waving. She waves back, and he leans comfortably against the railing, chatting with her.
Over the next minute, Bon Jovi and a third party speak to the woman, whose face has been blurred to protect her privacy. From the bridge, they reach out to the woman and help her back over the ledge to safety.
Bon Jovi continued to chat with her and ended the meeting with a hug.

The Metro Nashville Police Department reported that the woman was taken to a local hospital for treatment.
