Early life and education
Jordan Poole was born on June 19, 1999 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, United States. He was raised by his parents, Anthony Poole and Monet Poole, and has two sisters whose names have not been publicly disclosed.
Poole attended Rufus King High School in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, before transferring to play his senior season at La Lumiere School in La Porte, Indiana. He is white and Catholic.
Career
Jordan Poole was drafted 28th overall by the Golden State Warriors in the 2019 NBA Draft. He signed a three-year, $6.2 million rookie contract with the team. Poole made his NBA debut in the Warriors’ opening game of the 2019-20 season, coming off the bench. He made his NBA debut later that month, scoring 13 points.
In December 2019, Poole was assigned to the Warriors’ G-League affiliate, the Santa Cruz Warriors, where he had some impressive performances. He rejoined the NBA team in January 2020 and set a personal record of 21 points in a win over the Magic.
With Klay Thompson out for the entire 2020-21 season, Poole has taken on a larger role. He has set several new career highs, including a 38-point game in May 2021. Poole beat out Otto Porter Jr. and Damion Lee for the starting point guard job for the 2021-22 season.
When Thompson returned, Poole played more as a point guard in a three-guard lineup with Thompson and Stephen Curry. With Curry sidelined for the end of the season, Poole scored 20-plus points in 18 of the final 20 games, including a 17-game streak.
He also passed Curry for the NBA free throw percentage title. Poole finished fourth in voting for the NBA’s Most Improved Player award despite not being one of the three official finalists. His impressive development and performance have made him an indispensable part of the Warriors’ rotation.
