Ariel Pagtalonia Manalo, popularly known as Jose Manalo, was born in Dondo, Manila, Philippines on February 12, 1966. He was raised by his parents, Renato Manalo and Anita Manalo, and has four siblings whose names are unknown.
He completed his primary education at Magat Salamat Primary School and graduated from Gregorio Pecto High School.
Jose also attended several colleges, including the University of Santo Tomas, the Conservatory of Music, the University of the Philippines College, the Mapúa Polytechnic Institute, and the University of the East. However, he did not complete any of his college studies.
