Queens of the Stone Age (QOTSA) have finally decided to cancel their remaining 2024 tour dates as lead singer Josh Homme focuses on his health.

The band announced the decision on social media on Friday, expressing regret over the cancellation and postponement, saying, “Josh had no choice but to prioritize his health and receive the necessary medical care throughout the year.”

The “Mosquito Song” hitmaker was scheduled to perform in several cities across the United States before the year ended. However, the following dates have been postponed until 2025:

  • September 27-28 in Boston
  • October 1 in Cincinnati
  • October 2 in Chicago
  • October 4 in Madison, Wisconsin

Additionally, some dates have been cancelled altogether:

  • September 29 in Bridgeport, Conn.
  • October 6 in Memphis
  • November 17 in Mexico City

Fans with tickets to affected shows have been advised to visit the specific event websites for updates. Ticket holders for the band’s concerts will be contacted at the point of purchase for further details on the new dates.

The band also expressed gratitude to fans in their announcement: “Josh and the QOTSA family are so grateful for your support and the time we’ve spent together over the past year. We hope to see you all again in 2025.”

Homme’s health has been a concern since he revealed in June 2023 that he had been diagnosed with cancer the previous year. At the time, Homme told Revolver magazine that he had undergone successful surgery to remove the cancer but did not provide specific details about his condition.

The band was in the middle of an international tour in July 2024 when Homme had to “immediately return to the United States for emergency surgery,” according to an official statement. The sudden medical issue forced the band to cancel and postpone eight shows, with plans to return to the stage in August.

The tour is part of the promotion for QOTSA’s eighth studio album, “In Times New Roman..,” due for release in June 2023.

Throughout their career, the band has received eight Grammy Award nominations.

The band released their first album in 1998.
