Early life

Julia Haart was born in Moscow, Russia on April 11, 1971 but moved to New York City when she was three years old. By age 11, Haart moved to Monsey, one of New York’s largest Orthodox communities.

Haart attended Bais Yakov Academy in Brooklyn, New York. She developed an early interest in fashion design and, after reading fashion magazines, learned to sew at the age of 16. When she was 18, Haart changed her name to Talia.

Haart was the eldest of eight children, one of whom died in a car accident when he was five years old. Only one of her siblings, Hannah, has a relationship with her; her parents and other siblings stopped speaking to her after she left her Orthodox community.

Haart’s shoe company, Julia Haart Inc., was founded in 2013. She wanted to create a line of footwear that combined fashion and comfort for the wearer. Haart was appointed creative director of La Perla in 2016 for her work on accessories collections.

She designed a “ready-to-wear collection” for La Perla, which was a huge success for the company. Haart met Silvio Scaglia, an Italian telecommunications magnate, while working for the company. Scaglia paid $69 million for La Perla in 2013.

Scaglia bought the name at auction in 2013 for $90 million. She then worked as creative director for La Perla, an Italian fashion house focusing on lingerie. Scaglia also appointed Haart as CEO of Elite World Group a few months after the couple married in 2019.

Scaglia would eventually face tax evasion issues that landed him in jail and under house arrest. Haart created the La Perla Manor runway in 2017 featuring Kendall Jenner and Naomi Campbell. That same year, she designed Kendall Jenner’s Met Gala dress.

Haart took over as CEO of Elite World Group in March 2019. She has been successful in business and recently transitioned into television. Haart appeared in Netflix’s “My Unorthodox Life” in July 2021.

Her life as CEO of The Elite World Group is chronicled on the show. Regional Jewish organizations punished the play for her role. Haart revealed in 2021 that she has big plans for new fashion lines. In March 2022, Haart released his autobiography, Brazen.
