Kabex Biography
Abdul Kabir Olakunde, popularly known as Kabex (Emini Kabex), is a 26-year-old Nigerian rapper who broke into the rap scene by rapping in the local Yoruba language. He graduated from the Department of Political Science at the University of Ilorin (UNILORIN), Nigeria. Kabex is known for his versatile and stunning freestyle raps and uses Instagram as his main platform to promote his work.
Music career
While studying Political Science at the University of Ilorin, Kabex was passionate about his rap career, which he confirmed by posting a series of freestyle videos on Instagram featuring some great rap lines. He was said to have started his music career at a very young age and he never gave up on the dream because he studied while making music, which allowed him to combine the two.
Controversy (with Jaido P)
During a rap jam session, Kabex was caught on camera making a series of jabs at rappers who have turned singers, according to an interview he gave to Naijaloaded, he said that rappers should not turn singers, they should defend the game they claim to love. This upset many rappers who were victimized by his remarks as it caused some music rappers and music lovers to disparage his views.
Besides claiming that he is the best local rapper, he also stated that no one in the industry can stand up to him in a rap battle. This caught the attention of Jaido P, who immediately rushed to the studio to produce a diss track for him titled “Construction.” The diss track released by Jaido P is rumored to be co-written by Davolee, one of the main figures in Kabex’s freestyle diss-turned-rapper. Kabex immediately responded to the diss track with “Jalopi (Jaido P’s Diss).” Both sides came out, making it difficult for music lovers to decide who is the winner.
