Anayo Modestus Onyekwere (born 1 March 1962) is a veteran Nigerian actor, politician, businessman and lawyer, best known for his role as Kanayo O. Kanayo.
In 2006, he won the Africa Movie Academy Award for Best Actor for his role in the film “Family War”.
Kanayo O. Kanayo is best known for his genre films where he makes money through rituals on behalf of occult groups.

Early life and education
Kanayo O. Kanayo was born in Mbaise, Imo State, Nigeria on March 1, 1962. The 62-year-old is the son of Donatus Onyekwere (father) and Ezinne Onyekwere (mother).
He has a brother named John Onyekwere.
He received his primary education at St. Joseph Primary School, Mbaisi, secondary education at Mbaisi Boys Secondary School, Imo State and completed his schooling at the Technical College, Aba, Abia State, Nigeria.
Kanayo O. Kanayo then attended the University of Lagos. He graduated from the University of Lagos with a Bachelor’s degree in Mass Communications and a Master’s degree in Political Science.

Kanayo O. Kanayo started out as a guest actor in NTA Enugu TV series after graduating from university.
In 1982, he joined the Nigerian film industry out of a pure desire to bring smiles to people’s faces and played the role of “Chief Omego” in the movie “Living in Bondage”.
The film thrust the Nigerian film industry and himself into the limelight. In 2017, he partnered with Globacom Communications to star in the seasonal television show Professor John Bull, in which he played the role of a professor.
Since Kanayo O. Kanayo entered the film industry, he has starred in more than 250 Nigerian films including Circles of Doom, Nneka, Billionaires Club, Rituals, Tears for Love, Living in Bondage, The Coven and Blood Money. Kanayo O. Kanayo has evolved from an actor to a producer, director and filmmaker, he runs a media consultancy and owns an internet cafe in Lagos.
The actor who usually stars in “occult movies” has shared screen space with other A-list actors like Olu Jacobs, Pete Edochie, Liz Benson, Omotola Jalade Ekeinde, Genevieve Nnaji and Justus Esiri.
In 2011, Kanayo O. Kanayo ran for the House of Representatives to represent the people of Ahiazu/Ezinihitte Mbaise Federal Constituency.
He was appointed to the Board of Directors of the National Institute of Hospitality and Tourism Studies by former President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan in 2013. Kanayo O Kanayo owns a mentoring academy, KOKMA, through which he hopes to inspire young people to pursue greater goals.
In 2017, Kanayo O. Kanayo returned to school and obtained a law degree from the University of Abuja.
