He is considered one of the greatest Hip Hop artists in the world. He is the Founder and CEO of GOOD Music, a company he founded in 2004.
He broke into the music industry as a record producer, working for Roc-A-Fella Records, co-owned by Jay-Z. He rose to fame as a rapper after releasing his commercially successful debut album, The College Dropout.

Early life
Ye (Kanye West) was born to African-American parents on June 8, 1977. He was born as Kanye Omari West in Atlanta, Georgia, United States. He was born to Ray West (father) and Donda West (mother). Three years after Kanye was born, his parents divorced.
His father, Ray West, was a member of the Black Panthers and one of the country’s first black photojournalists. His mother, Donda West, was a scholar and professor of English at Clark Atlanta University. She also served as chair of the English department at Chicago State University.
After his parents divorced, Ye (Kanye West) moved to Chicago with his mother and spent the rest of his childhood and teenage years in the city. He grew up in a middle-class environment and showed an interest in the arts from an early age. He began writing poetry at the age of five, and by the time he was in third grade, he had begun rapping. He recorded his first rap song in a studio when he was thirteen.
When Ye (Kanye West) was ten, he moved to China with his mother, a Fulbright scholar at Nanjing University. They stayed in the country for a while before moving back to Chicago.
Education
Ye (Kanye West) is an alumnus of Polaris School of Individualized Education, Oak Lawn, Illinois. He attended high school in Chicago.
In 1997, he received a scholarship to study at the American Academy of Art, located in Chicago. He took painting classes at the school. He then transferred to Chicago State University to study English. However, he dropped out of college to focus on his music career.
Career
In the mid-1990s, Ye (Kanye West) began his music production career. He produced music for underground and emerging artists in Chicago. His first official production credit was the album Down To Earth. He produced eight tracks on the project, which was the debut album of Chicago rapper Grav.
His big break as a producer came after he began producing songs for artists signed to Roc-A-Fella Records. He is credited with helping Jay-Z launch his career through his work on Jay-Z’s 2001 album The Blueprint. He signed with the label and became an in-house producer, allowing him to work with artists such as Beanie Sigel, Freeway, and Cam’ron.
Although Ye (Kanye West) had become a household name in the music industry as a producer, his main desire was to succeed as a rapper. He eventually broke into the industry as a rapper after releasing his debut album, The College Dropout, in February 2004.
Upon release, the album peaked at number two on the Billboard 200. Its lead single, Through The Wire, peaked at number fifteen on the Billboard Hot 100 for five weeks. The single, Slow Jamz (featuring Jamie Foxx and Twista) reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100.
The College Dropout was a commercial success and was certified triple platinum in the United States, was nominated for ten Grammy Awards and won the Grammy for Best Rap Album. Shortly after its release, he founded GOOD Music, a record label and management company.
Since Ye (Kanye West) released his debut album, he has released ten other solo studio albums. The projects are Late Registration, Graduation, 808s and Heartbreak, My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy, Yeezus, The Life Of Pablo, Ye, Jesus Is King, Donda and Donda 2.
He has also worked on three collaborative albums. His first collaborative project was Watch The Throne with Jay-Z. It was released in 2011. His second collaborative album was Cruel Summer. He worked with other artists under GOOD Music to record the project. His 2018 album Kid See Ghosts with Kid Cudi was his third full-length collaborative project.
