early life

Kaptain is a millennial who was born on January 18, 1997, in Benin City, Edo State, Nigeria to Nigerian parents.

Born in the Ibibio/Efik area, he hails from Akwa Ibom State in South Southern Nigeria.

He and his family grew up as Christians under the influence of their parents, who would not hesitate to save them as long as they were worthy.

As an undergraduate student at a university in Nigeria, Kaptain was a member of the Music Artists Community and participated in many performances at the school. This experience helped him better develop his expertise and create compelling music.

He was still trying to get better when he met Sunshine, a Nigerian record producer. Sunshine found that he had a talent in rapping and helped, encouraged and taught him how to rap. Before he met Sunshine, he was a dancer and performed many times in various states in Nigeria.

In order to develop his own musical style, he began to make covers of mainstream songs and posted them online. As expected, many people listened to his music and his records began to circulate online.

While he was still working on mastering his sound in the music industry, he recorded his first single in 2012 and it quickly became a hit. He played the song to his colleagues and they encouraged him to choose music as a career, which he did.
