Early life
Katheryn Elizabeth Hudson was born in Santa Barbara, California, to Pentecostal pastors Mary Christine and Maurice Keith Hudson on October 25, 1984. She has two siblings. Her parents moved around the country from the age of three to eleven, founding churches, before settling back in California and struggling financially.
She received her first guitar on her 13th birthday and began performing songs she had written in front of audiences. She began taking lessons at the age of nine and soon became involved in her parents’ ministry, singing in church.
