Keegan-Michael Key (born March 22, 1971) is an accomplished American actor, comedian, producer, and screenwriter. He began his acting career in the 1990s, appearing in a number of television shows and films.
He rose to fame for his role in the sketch comedy series Key & Peele (2012-2015), for which he won a Primetime Emmy Award in 2016.
Keegan-Michael Key has also appeared in several films, including Tomorrowland (2015), Predator (2018), and Toy Story 4 (2019). He is currently a cast member of the show The Lion Guard (2019-present).

Early life and education
Keegan-Michael Key was born on March 22, 1971, in Southfield, Michigan, United States. His father is Leroy McDuffie, who is black, and his mother is Carrie Hull, who is of Polish and Flemish descent.
Keegan Michael Key was adopted at a young age by Michael Key and Patricia Walsh, a couple from Detroit who both worked in social services. His adoptive parents, Patricia Walsh and Michael Key, were also a black man and a white woman, just like his biological parents. Keegan Michael Key’s biological father had two half-brothers, one of whom was comic book creator Dwayne McDuffie. Keegan Michael Key did not know he had half-siblings until after they died.
Keegan-Michael Key was raised in a Catholic family. He received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Theatre Arts from the University of Detroit Mercy in 1993. He received a Master of Arts degree in Theatre Arts from Pennsylvania State University in 1996. At the University of Detroit Mercy, he was a member of the Phi Kappa Theta fraternity.

Keegan-Michael Key was married to actress and dialect coach Cynthia Burress from 1998 to 2017. In November 2015, Keegan-Michael Key officially separated and filed for divorce the following month.

Keegan-Michael Key joined the cast of Mad TV in 2004, halfway through the ninth season. He was paired opposite Jordan Peele, but was chosen after they showed great comedic chemistry. He played a variety of characters in the series. His most notable role was Coach Hines, a high school sports coach who frequently harassed and threatened students and staff.
Hines revealed in the penultimate episode of Mad TV that he is the long-lost heir to the Heinz ketchup company and that he became a coach at the Catholic school only to help troubled youth like Yamanashi (Bobby Lee).
