He was born in Lloydminster, Saskatchewan, Canada, in 1947 and began his journalism career at The StarPhoenix newspaper in Saskatoon in 1966.
During his early years, he gained experience working at several local television stations across Canada, such as CFTO-TV in Toronto, CHAN-TV (now BCTV) in Vancouver and CFQC in Saskatoon, where he served as newsreader, reporter, weekend anchor and producer.

In 1966, Keith Morrison graduated from the University of Saskatchewan with a bachelor’s degree in history, which laid the foundation for his successful journalism career.
Although he majored in history, Morrison has held various positions in journalism in Canada and the United States, culminating in his current role as a correspondent at Dateline NBC, where his unique storytelling style has brought him much recognition.
Career
After earning a degree in history from the University of Saskatchewan in 1966, he began his career at “Phoenix Star” Saskatoon newspaper the same year.
In 1973, he moved to CTV, taking on a variety of roles, including announcer, reporter, weekend presenter and producer.
He received awards for his coverage of the Yom Kippur War and the Boat People crisis. In 1982, he joined the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC) as a reporter and anchor, then moved to Los Angeles as a reporter for KNBC-TV in 1986.
He joined NBC News in 1988 as the West Coast correspondent for “NBC Nightly News” And “Today“. After a brief return to CTV in 1992, he was fired in 1995.

Personal life
In 1981, Morrison married Suzanne Perry, a veteran of political writing, consulting, and fundraising, who also worked as a news anchor and press secretary to Canadian Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau.
They have four children: Caitlin (born 1981), Emily (born 1985), Willy (born 1987), and Madeleine (born 1989).
Morrison also has a son, Michael (born 1974), from a previous marriage. Additionally, Morrison became the stepfather of the late actor Matthew Perry, who was Suzanne’s son from her previous marriage to actor John Bennett Perry.
