Kero Sewers Walkthrough, Guide, Gameplay, Wiki and More

Super Mario RPG

Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars was released on the Super Nintendo Entertainment System in 1996 and was the last Mario game on the SNES. The film is directed by Chihiro Fujioka and Yoshihiko Maekawa, produced by Shigeru Miyamoto, and has music by Yoko Shimomura. This game is unique in that it introduced Mario to the role-playing genre.

The story follows Mario and his friends as they fight against the Blacksmith Gang, who have invaded their world and broken up the seven star fragments of Star Road. The game features turn-based combat with up to three characters and is known for its isometric 3D exploration, a first in the Mario series. It was praised for its humor and 3D graphics, influencing other role-playing games such as Paper Mario and Mario & Luigi. The game received positive reviews when it launched globally on Nintendo Switch in 2023.

Kero Sewer Guide

In the Kero Sewers section of Super Mario RPG, follow these steps for a walkthrough:

  • Save Block: Descend into the sewers and find a save block. Use it if necessary. There are no hidden treasures in this area, so you are free to explore.
  • Swim through the puddle: Enter the water and swim to the other side of the puddle. You’ll come across a pipe. Go down it and enter the next pipe in the lower right corner of the screen. If you wish, you can fight “Cheep Cheep” enemies to gain experience points.
  • Continue the path: Follow the path, enter the pipe on the other side of the room, and click on the box to get a flower. Descend to the area below and go straight up the stairs. Hit another treasure chest, but be prepared for a sudden battle with Huhwhat enemies.
  • Fight Huhwhat: Huhwhat can be powerful, inflicting fear and dealing damage over time. It is immune to most special moves, except Mario’s jump. If necessary, upgrade it before facing other enemies. Once defeated, you will receive a vase and a True Shape Badge, which makes you immune to status conditions.
  • Return to the upper area: Go back through the pipes to reach the stairs where the Flower Chest is located. Climb the stairs and enter the top pipe to find a treasure chest with a Super Star. Use it to plow through the rats, but be careful not to fall to lower areas.
  • Go through the pipe: Take the next pipe to the left, past the rat enemies, and into the next pipe. In the new room, climb the stairs, hit the switch to drain the water, and return through the pipe. Jump to the now dry area and enter the lowest pipe.
  • Prepare for the boss fight: Equip Mario with the Trueform Pin, use the box to heal, and save your progress. Note that there is a treasure chest above the pipe that you cannot reach yet.
  • Boss Fight – Belome: Enter the pipe to face the boss, Belome, a giant canine creature. Equip the Trueform Pin to make combat easier. See the separate guide for tips on defeating Belome.
  • After Belome: A flood warning is in effect in Belome. He stood on a switch to prevent the water from coming in. Mario and Mallow are swept away by the waves, leading to the Midas River Route, a new mini-game in which you collect coins.

Kero sewer guide

In Super Mario RPG’s Kero Sewers, players first have to fall into the sewers and find save blocks. There are no hidden treasures to worry about. Players then swim through puddles, pass through pipes, and face “squeaky” enemies to gain experience points. Along the way, they encounter a powerful enemy named Huhwhat, who can be defeated with a well-timed jump.

After defeating Huhwhat, players will receive a vase and a Trueform Pin, which can prevent future status conditions. The guide recommends leveling up before facing strong enemies. Players go back through the pipes to find the superstar, defeat the mouse, and start a boss battle with Bellome. Equip the Trueform Pin to make combat easier. After defeating Bellome, a flood washed Mario and Mallow to the Midas River, and a mini-game to collect gold coins began.

Cairo sewer

The Kero sewers in Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars resemble an underground maze with blue walls and blocks that look similar to the underground levels in the original Super Mario Bros. They are located above Midas Falls and are guarded by a boss named Bellome. To get there, Mario and his friends travel through a tunnel at Land’s End, where they discover various things like cricket jams, stars, and meet different monsters along the way.

In another adventure called Mario and the Miraculous Rescue, Mario, Luigi, and Toad use the Kero Sewers as a shortcut to reach Bowser’s Fortress faster. However, they end up in Sibley’s forest, where they need to collect six mushrooms. The Kero sewers become home to the story’s first black mushrooms, while piranha plants that weren’t present in the original game now roam the sewers.

Kero sewer gameplay

In Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars, Kero Sewers provide an exciting and challenging gameplay experience. Serving as an underground waterway reminiscent of classic Super Mario Bros. levels, players guide Mario and his friends through this brick-filled turquoise maze. The sewers are located above Midas Falls and are guarded by the powerful leader Belome.

As players venture through Cairo’s sewers, they will encounter various obstacles, including a boss fight with Bellome. Traveling through the sewers requires swimming through puddles, exploring pipes, and facing enemies like “Squeaks” to gain valuable experience points. Additionally, the journey includes finding items like vases and Trueform Pins, which grant immunity to certain status conditions, thereby enhancing the overall strategy of the game. The Kero sewers also play a role in the larger narrative, connecting to other locations and missions, adding depth to the gameplay experience.

Additionally, Kero sewers are an important part of the game in Mario and the Mysterious Rescue, as they serve as shortcuts for Mario, Luigi, and Toad to quickly reach Bowser’s Fortress. This alternate route leads to unexpected encounters, such as piranha plants, creating a unique twist in the gameplay. Overall, Kero Sewers’ blend of exploration, combat, and narrative progression makes it a memorable and integral part of the Super Mario RPG experience.
