Kevin Jerome Gilyard (born February 5, 1986) is an American rapper, songwriter, actor and entrepreneur who goes by the stage name Kevin Gates. He is best known for his blockbuster studio album ‘Islah’, released in 2016, as well as the mixtapes ‘Stranger than Fiction’ and ‘By Any Means’. He is one of the most successful contemporary American singers, having released numerous hit singles and mixtapes throughout his career.

Kevin Gates’ real name is Kevin Jerome Gilyard, born February 5, 1986. He was born in New Orleans, Louisiana, United States and is the son of Martha Green Gates, his mother.

Kevin Gates began his career in 2005 when he joined local record label Dead Game Records.
Boosie Badazz and Webbie have also collaborated with him. In 2007, the three collaborated on the mixtape ‘Pack of Da Littler.’
‘All or Nuthin’, their second mixtape, was released in 2008. However, Kevin Gates got into trouble with the law not long after, and was sentenced to over two years in prison.
