Early life and education
Lachlan Oliver Neale was born in South Australia, Australia, on 24 May 1993. He was raised by his parents Robbie Neale and Amanda Taylor.
Although it is not known to the media whether he has any siblings, it is likely that he grew up with siblings. Lachlan attended St Peter’s College. He is Australian and Catholic.
Career
Lachie Neale was selected by the Fremantle Dockers in the 2011 AFL draft, along with childhood friend Alex Forster, who was selected in the same year. Neale had a strong pre-season in 2012 but missed the start of the season due to an ankle injury.
After playing a handful of games in the WAFL, Neale made his AFL debut for Fremantle in 2012 and steadily improved his form in subsequent seasons.
Neale’s 2016 season saw him awarded the Doig Medal for Fremantle’s best and fairest player.
He went on to win a second Doig Medal in 2018 before requesting a transfer to the Brisbane Lions. Neale thrived at his new club, earning his first All-Australian selection in 2019 and winning a Brownlow Medal in the shortened 2020 season.
Neale continued his fine form in subsequent seasons, winning accolades including additional All-Australian selections and the Merrett-Murray Medal. Although he missed out on the 2022 Brownlow Medal by one vote, he remains one of the league’s elite midfielders.
