Lady Gaga no longer smokes marijuana to treat fibromyalgia amid engagement to Michael Polansky

In an interview with Vogue magazine published on Thursday, the singer revealed that Lady Gaga no longer uses cannabis to cope with her fibromyalgia.

Speaking to Vogue, the 38-year-old Hollywood star addressed her health condition and revealed that she no longer uses cannabis to manage the symptoms of fibromyalgia.

For nearly a decade, Lada Gaga—real name Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta—has openly discussed her struggles with the chronic disorder. She even revealed that she would smoke marijuana to avoid feeling pain while performing.

In a 2020 interview with Oprah Winfrey, the “A Star Is Born” actress revealed that she was “in pain from head to toe” most of the time because of the condition. However, she was able to perform her “Chromatica” concerts in 2022 without any pain, according to the Daily Mail.

“I did it without pain. I changed,” Germanotta told Vogue after admitting that her “Chromatica” tour was “the first time [she] done without pain.”

The reason behind Gaga’s disappearance of fibromyalgia symptoms remains unclear. It’s worth noting that experts still don’t fully understand what causes this painful disorder and why symptoms come and go.

What is fibromyalgia?

Fibromyalgia is a chronic disorder characterized by widespread pain, fatigue, and cognitive problems. Symptoms often appear after physical trauma, emotional stress, surgery, or infection, according to the Mayo Clinic.

Based on scientific data, women are more likely to suffer from this disorder than men and although there is no known cure, according to the clinic, certain medications have been used to control the symptoms of the disease.

Research has shown that most patients learn to cope with their symptoms over time. They may also experience periods of remission, when they can go weeks, months, or years without symptoms.

Lady Gaga claims her affair with Michael Polansky helped improve her condition

Gaga credits her symptoms in part to her relationship with her boyfriend, American businessman Michael Polansky.

In a recent interview, she emphasized that she was able to do her “Chromatica” concerts because Polansky, 46, was with her the whole time. “Michael and I did that tour together,” Gaga said.

Earlier this week, the “Bad Romance” hitmaker made headlines when she was spotted wearing a large oval diamond engagement ring while attending the 2024 Venice Film Festival.

Gaga confirmed her engagement in July and opened up about her fiancé in an interview with Vogue magazine: “I’m really happy.”

“What was missing in my life was true love,” Gaga added when discussing how her life had changed since meeting Polansky.
