Lamar Odom has weighed in on the sad death of singer Liam Payne with the theory that a drug cocktail called “pink cocaine” may have been involved in his death.
In an exclusive interview with TMZ, the former NBA star was willing to talk about his own experiences with drugs.
Toxicology tests showed Payne had a combination of ketamine, methamphetamine and ecstasy in his body when he died.
Law enforcement sources tell TMZ that drug test results show that drugs appear to be a significant factor, although that’s only part of what police are looking at in terms of possible suicide. .
Odom, who is now clean and runs Odom Recovery Group, admitted that he had used every drug on the list in Payne’s toxicology report – specifically crack and cocaine, which he said is more dangerous.
Odom feared the drugs might cause him to hallucinate.
This knowledge is consistent with police speculation that Payne plunged to his death from the third-floor balcony of the CasaSur Palermo hotel in Buenos Aires.
In addition to drugs, Payne also had a bottle of alcohol and prescription anti-anxiety medication in his hotel room. The police report described the room as cluttered with broken objects, drug paraphernalia and white powder covering the floor.
Payne insisted he was sober as he opened up about his addiction to drugs and alcohol after his One Direction days earlier this year. But Odom said the day Payne died, it appeared “he really scored” on drugs.
However, speculation this week surrounding the cause of Payne’s death arose when he reportedly told friends earlier this year that he was going to quit drinking.
Odom hopes Payne’s tragic death will also touch many people, especially those who are dying in Hollywood because of similar events.
Odom said he felt called to help those also battling addiction.
The 30-year-old musician was remembered by fans and family in touching tributes.
