Early life
Born on 9 July 1955 to parents from Anioma Local Government Area of Delta State, Lauretta Onochie grew up learning from her guardians and spent most of her formative years at Calabar in the State. Cross River. She developed the ability to speak her native language and also became fluent in her local dialect.

This accomplished scholar had an illustrious upbringing with an academic journey that saw her move from one State to another in the country. At the age of 18, she left Calabar and went west to continue her studies before moving abroad to further strengthen her academic credentials.
During her childhood, Lauretta Onochie secretly met successful educators and was very close to her teachers and lecturers; a move that helped her establish herself in the professional field.
Education
Lauretta Onochie was quickly accepted to study Elementary Education at the University of Calabar after completing her basic and secondary education.
In an effort to study more, she headed west to further her education and got the chance when the University of Benin provided the opportunity to do so. She completed with a Business Education Degree from a prestigious Institution and studied abroad for her postgraduate studies.
While studying at the University of Greenwich, Lauretta Onochie’s extensive experience behind academic walls was enough to earn her a postgraduate degree in Post-Compulsory Education and Training (PCET).
She also enrolled in two separate certificate programs namely; Humanitarian Responses to Conflict, Disasters, and the Health Effects of Climate Change at Harvard University.
Career
Lauretta Onochie began her illustrious career as a lecturer at New City College, Loughton, England. She eventually moved on to other Higher Institutions with numerous teaching credits to her name.
In 2012, her influential personality paved the way for other developments; one of which included her collaboration with Nigerian journalist and historian Elder Emeka Esogbue, Gloria Adagbon and Emmanuel Nwaokolo to form the Ndi Anioma Group of Nigeria, which started the Ndi Anioma Youth Movement. She also took a course at the Bible college in Calabar and was ordained as a Pastor after completing the program.
In the years that followed, Lauretta Onochie rose through the ranks, serving as Senior Advisor to AfricaFirst until 2016 when she was appointed Personal Assistant to President Muhammadu Buhari on Social Media.
She is also very vocal on Twitter and has not hesitated to support the President over the years.
Personal life
Lauretta Onochie is happily married to Mr. Onochi and has children and grandchildren. Most of her immediate family members reside in the UK.
