Tony Buzbee, the lawyer who denounced most of Sean “Diddy” Combs’s accusers in the brutal sexual assault/harassment case that made headlines, is a legal hot water bottle for his own troubles. A lawsuit in Harris County claims that Buzbee assaulted a woman he represented in a divorce case.
Buzbee has been accused of ethics violations in the divorce case of the woman known only as Jane Doe, but the complaints against Buzbee began with allegations of assault.
The lawsuit alleges legal malpractice, breach of fiduciary duty, intentional infliction of emotional distress and fraudulent concealment against Buzbee.
Jane Doe’s attorney, Jeremy I. Bohrer, claims that Buzbee prioritized covering his tracks over protecting her financial interests, resulting in her being left millions short of her final divorce settlement .
She is seeking actual and punitive damages, nullification of the settlement agreement and attorney’s fees.
In a statement to AllHipHop, Bohrer called Buzbee a “hypocrite.”
“The situation is especially troubling given that Buzbee is seen by the public as a champion of victims,” Bohrer said. “There’s nothing worse than a black hat masquerading as a white hat.”
The legal drama comes a day after another celebrity named John Doe sued Buzbee. According to records, she tried to blackmail him, threatening to create sexual assault charges against him unless he came up with a large sum of money.
The actions were described as a carefully planned scheme to smear John Doe’s finances, his attorney said, “with no evidence to support this allegation.”
Buzbee has yet to publicly respond to the latest allegations against him. As a defendant, his history as a legal avenger on behalf of victims faces its greatest challenge.
