League of Legends 13.6 Early Patch Notes, League of Legends Wiki

League of Legends Wiki

“League of Legends”, referred to as LoL, is a multiplayer online arena game developed and published by Riot Games in 2009. The game was inspired by Defense of the Ancients, a custom map from Warcraft III, and Riot’s founders aimed to create an independent game within the same genre. Since its launch in October 2009, League of Legends has been free-to-play and funded through purchasable character customization. It is available on Microsoft Windows and macOS platforms.

In the game, two teams of five players engage in player-versus-player combat, with each team occupying and defending their own half of the map. Each player controls a character called a “Champion,” each with unique abilities and play styles. During matches, champions gain power by defeating opponents by collecting experience points, earning coins, and purchasing items. In League’s main mode, Summoner’s Rift, the goal is for a team to reach the enemy base and destroy their “Nexus,” a large structure within it.
