Career
Byrne’s career began in rugby union, where he played for Bridgend Blue Bulls.
However, he later switched to rugby union, showing his skills as a full-back and forward. He initially played for Bridgend Athletic RFC and Tondu RFC before attracting the attention of Llanelli Scarlets.
With outstanding performances in both the Celtic League and Heineken Cup, Byrne was called up to the national team for a test series in November.
Throughout his career, Byrne played for a variety of teams, including Llanelli RFC, Scarlets, Ospreys, Clermont and NG Dragons.
His time at Scarlets was particularly memorable when Byrne demonstrated his penalty-taking ability against Connacht in 2007.
